Ardell B. Hunt
NORTH OGDEN – Ardell B. Hunt, 88, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.
He was born November 11, 1919 in Cedar View, Utah, a son of Edward Moroni and Candace Brown Hunt.
Ardell married Phyllis Pernice DeLange in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She passed away in 1992. He later married Elizabeth Montano McGinnis in the Ogden Temple.
He was a lifelong resident of Huntsville and North Ogden.
Ardell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, attending Cold Water 2nd Ward. Ardell served four missions to Nigeria, Africa where he built a chapel, Portland, Oregon; Indianapolis, Indiana; and a temple mission to Santiago, Chile.
Ardell served his country during WWII.
Early in his career he worked in construction including building chapels. He was especially proud of the Huntsville Chapel. He retired from the Weber County School District as maintenance supervisor.
Ardell enjoyed gardening, wood working and loved to be of service to others. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, of North Ogden; five sons and three daughters, Ronald Ardell (Jean) Hunt, Berthoud, CO; Lyle B. (Denise) Hunt, Paradise, CA; Michael L. (Jody) McGinnis, Poway, CA; David L. (Sharon), McGinnis, Taylor, UT; Arvie G. (Jolea) McGinnis, Northhill, CA; Shirley (Veldon) Waters, Ogden, UT; Barbara Hunt, Salt Lake City, UT; Wendy Peterson, Roy, UT; 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Richard M. (LaRue) Hunt, Preston, Idaho; Mary Curtis, Aurora, UT.
Ardell was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, daughter, Phyllis Colleen Christensen, granddaughter, Julie Anne Wadman, son-in-law, Boyd “Pete” Peterson, two brothers and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel, at 787 East 1700 North, with Bishop’s Counselor Tim Sorenson officiating.
Friends may call at the Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Chapel from 9:30 to 10:30a.m.
Interment, Huntsville Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
