Ardella Kirkbride Bosworth
October 31, 1924 ~January 3, 2022
On January 3, 2022 our hearts were broken when our beautiful mother, Ardella Bosworth completed her journey here on earth. It is with profound sadness that we feel this great loss in our lives with gratitude we celebrate the gift that knowing her has been.
Ardella Kirkbride Bosworth, age 97, passed away at her home in Syracuse, UT with family at her side.
Ardella was born the 10th of 11 children, to Martha Vinnie Merritt and Charles Franklin Kirkbride on Halloween, 1924 in Dayton, Idaho. Her parents weren’t sure if she was a “trick or a treat.”
One cold night the family home caught fire and burned to the ground. The only things that they were able to save were a new batch of puppies and the older girl’s church dresses.
When mother was nine years old she was baptized in the Dayton canal. A year later her father died of pneumonia, so her mother had to sell the family farm and they moved to Preston, Idaho.
At fourteen, Ardella got her first job at Estison’s Variety Store for .15 cents an hour. Soon after, she was offered .20 cents an hour to manage a coffee shop. Early each morning she walked from her house to the shop to build a fire in the stove. She managed several girls that worked the counter. It was a big responsibility for a 15 year old.
One day while grocery shopping with her mother, she locked eyes with a handsome young man named, Purser Bosworth. Who also happened to be a friend of her older brother, Bill.
Mom and Dad were marred in Malad Idaho, November 23, 1940. They were sealed in the Logan temple, December 19, 1941. They spent their early married life in Preston, and then 32 years in Nampa Idaho. Dad worked as a plumber and inspector for the city of Nampa, while mom worked in the family greenhouse and as a bookkeeper for Stone Lumber Company.
After retirement mom and dad spent their winters in Mesa, AZ with lots of family and friends. They had a wonderful time. In 1990 they moved back to Preston and years later moved to Syracuse, UT to be with their son, John and his wife Alice.
Mom grew to love her neighbors and Ward family, and they loved her too. She was watched over and taken care of by good friends, Darlene, Debbie, and her niece Susan.
Mom was proceeded in death by her husband, Purser, and children, Travis, Tim, Crystal, one granddaughter-in-law and four great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children, Alaina (Jay), John (Alice), and Shannon (Tom) and daughter-in- law, Delayne. Also, two sisters in law, Mary Kirkbride and Eleanor Kirkbride. Ardella has 26 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Mom was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the Gospel and her Savior Jesus Christ.
We would like to thank Suncrest Hospice for their kind, loving care. Especially Marisa and Cindy.
