Ardyce Jean Griffis, age 85, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014, at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield.
She was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on March 8, 1929, to Marvin A. Threlkel and Alta E. Ebert. She attended North Platte High School.
Ardyce married Floyd Griffis on May 18, 1946, in Ogallala, Nebraska.
She moved to Utah in October 1956. She lived in Layton for many years, where she and her husband raised two daughters, Judy (Craig) Day, Ardie (Dennis) Miller and a nephew, Kenny Griffis. They lived in Fruit Heights for more than 30 years. She resided at Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield where she had made many close friends and Joe (the dog).
She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Layton. Ardyce enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and the mountains.
Ardyce worked at Hill Air Force Base and retired in November 1974.
Surviving are her daughters, nephew, brother Dorral Threlkel, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
