Ardyth Westmoreland
1934 ~ 2021
Ardyth Westmoreland passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021, after suffering from vascular dementia for over a decade. She was ready to “go home,” as she called it. Ardyth was born in 1934 in Ogden, Utah, and had three brothers and a sister. David C. Jensen, from Portland Oregon, is her surviving brother. She was married to Robert H. Westmoreland until his death in 1997. She retired from Morton Thiokol after working there for 20 years. The last ten years of her life she lived with her daughter, Vicky, in Salt Lake City.
Mom smiled and laughed easily, had a wry sense of humor, and was forgiving of others. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, drinking milk, eating Oreos, all forms of chocolate, hamburgers, and chocolate milkshakes. She delighted in listening to country western music and dancing with our dad. Whenever mom said goodbye, she always added, “be safe” and “I love you.” Mom loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. She adored our dog, Roo, who visited her regularly after she moved to Rosewood Assisted Living in May of 2021. These visits from Roo always cheered her up and made her smile. We would like to thank the staff at Rosewood and One Source Hospice for their attentive and loving care of mom.
Ardyth is survived by her daughters, Vicky Westmoreland, Penny Westmoreland (Fred Whicker), and Louise Rodriquez; numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great-grandchildren, and her friend of 70 plus years, Elaine Ito.
A celebration of Ardyth’s life will be held at Vicky’s home in SLC, Utah in the Spring of 2022. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
Donations can be made in Ardyth’s name to the Salt Lake County Animal Shelter, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, and/or the Noble Horse Sanctuary.
