Arvie Richard “Red” Andersen

Arvie Richard “Red” Andersen passed away January 1, 2020 due to complications to diabetes and kidney failure. He was born September 17, 1942 in Ogden, Utah. He was educated in the Ogden and Weber County Schools with a scholarship to Weber State, in football.
He served in the USA Army National Guard. He was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad (SPRR), Montgomery Ward, Grand Central, Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA), and retired from Wonder Bread also known as Continental Baking.
Richard was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a two and a half year mission in Norway and served in various positions in the church. He had a very strong testimony of his Savior Jesus Christ.
Richard loved football and was an avid supporter of BYU. He loved snowmobiling, four wheeling, camping, and traveling to historic places. Most of all he loved being with family!
Richard is survived by his 4 children, Heidi Andersen Taylor, Reno, Nevada; John Jay Maggard, California; Tina Adams, Kansas; Jonathan Andersen, Salt Lake City, UT; and Lena Christiansen, Hawaii. He has 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He has 2 living siblings, Dorothy Nadine (Curtis) Goodwin, Ogden, UT and Clyde Hobbs (Leslie) Andersen, Sumas, Washington. He has 2 nephews and 3 nieces and 12 great-nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Arvie Jonas Andersen; mother, Dorothy Dean Hobbs Andersen and a younger brother, Gary Hobbs Andersen.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to give a special thank you to A-Plus Home Health Care Hospice, especially to his nurse Kenzie Boman. She was with him from beginning to end giving him tender care at all times. Also to Lotus Park Assisted and Memory Care for all their tender care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all flowers and contributions be made to the Diabetes Foundation, in the name of Arvie Richard Andersen.
