Arlene Stokes Taysom

Arlene Stokes Taysom departed this life on Monday, November 10, 2014.

She was born in Brigham City on July 15, 1935, to Bill Stokes and Viola Holt Stokes. She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School.

In 1953, Arlene married Ron Taysom. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

She loved to sew and created many beautiful quilts and clothing items. She loved doing genealogy. At a young age she began collecting photos and histories of ancestors. She did a lot of work for those beyond the veil and leaves a great legacy of information for her posterity. She was the pre-school grandma at Parkside Preschool for fifteen years.

Arlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had great faith and loved the Savior. She received her first church calling at age fifteen and served faithfully in the Church all of her life. Her callings included Primary President, Young Women’s President, and Relief Society President.

Her great love was her family. She gave birth to seven children and was able to raise five of them. She loved planning and attending fun family parties. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also loved to travel. She and Ron spent many happy hours on Pacific Beach in San Diego.

Arlene is survived by her husband Ron Taysom of Ogden; her children: Pam (Noel) Hyde of Layton; Penny (Kevin) Puzey of Kaysville; Paul (Sonja) Taysom of Tucson, AZ; Kathy Rueckert of Layton; and Ted (Danielle) Taysom of Chula Vista, CA. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy and Karen Taysom, and two grandchildren, Matt Puzey and Michelle Taysom.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at the Burch Creek 5th Ward Chapel, 4955 Adams Avenue. The family will meet with friends Friday, November 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
