Arlo Ervin Wall
LAYTON – Arlo Ervin Wall, 80, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at his home in Layton.
He was born July 13, 1928 in Layton, Utah to Ervin and Agnes Wall. He was the second of three children.
Arlo grew up in the East Layton area. He had many fond memories of his childhood days with his brother LaMar, swimming in the area ponds, hunting in the oak brush behind the family home and fishing with his friends and family. He spent many summers on the mountains bringing the cows down each day for milking. He attended Layton Elementary, North Davis Junior High and graduated from Davis High School.
Arlo enlisted in the Navy in 1950 and served honorably for almost four years. He was stationed in San Diego, Japan, Korea and Hawaii. He loved his country and very patriotic. After his discharge from the Navy, he went to work at the Navy base in Clearfield in teletype for eight years. He lived with the Bill Oberg family for several years. He returned to his childhood home in East Layton in 1970 and lived there until his death. During these years he worked in the masonry business for Creed Wheeler and later for his nephew, Brent Wall.
In his later years, an LDS church was built on family property across the street from the family home and Arlo spent seven years watching over the building, putting the flag up and down and locking the doors. He spent many hours at the church working in the Family History Center.
Arlo was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Agnes, his sister Della Boam, brother-in-law George Boam, and his brother LaMar. He is survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Wall, and many nieces and nephews.
