She was married to Jed Henderson Owen and later divorced. She married the love of her life Ralph Severn Checketts on October 14, 1978 in Reno, Nevada. He passed away on November 30, 1981.
Arlynn was a faithful member of the LDS Church and held many church positions throughout her life and had a great love of the Gospel, especially temple work.
Early in her career, Arlynn worked for the Ogden City Courts. She had a wonderful love and passion for law enforcement and also worked in the civil office of the Weber County Sheriff’s Department, which is where she met Ralph, who was a deputy sheriff there. She and Ralph loved to take their truck and camper up to Anderson Cove and North Fork while he patrolled the campgrounds during the summertime weekends. Another of her favorite jobs was being the Director of the Hillside Senior Center in Roy. She loved making ceramics and porcelain dolls with her friends. After retiring from the senior center, she returned back to work part-time for the sheriff’s department. She loved all of the lasting friendships she made during her work career and she was a very generous and giving person.
Mom loved to crochet, sew and paint ceramics. She made beautiful porcelain dolls. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz, and she also enjoyed worldwide flying with her son on many trips while he worked for America West Airlines.
Her siblings and their spouses are Lavon (Wayne) Stenquist, Shelton (Pam) George, Douglas (Marilyn) George, DeAun (Dick, deceased) Johnson, Lloyd (Lori) George, LaRee (Ron) Bodily, along with a special sister-in-law Peggy George (deceased). Her children and their spouses are Jerilyn (Mark) Harshbarger, Paul Owen (Adam Weise), Jill (Kevin) Jensen, as well as a special relationship with Ralph’s daughter Diann Joos (deceased) and Diann’s husband Paul Joos. She has many grandkids and great-grandkids that she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend a great big thank you to her wonderful and special condo friends and to the Intermountain Health Care Hospice employees who all gave her great care and loving support to her family.
