Arnold W. Kap

Arnold W. Kap, age 74, passed away at his home on December 6, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on July 5, 1942, in Ogden, Utah to Heino and Mary Kap.

Arnie married Joan B. Davis on March 31, 1961 and they were later divorced.  They had two daughters, Karlene and Deanne.

Arnie loved playing golf, pool, bowling, and riding motorcycles.  He also loved taking pictures and he always had a camera with him.  He taught many to enjoy all his passions, including his family and friends. Arnie also had a knack for repairing equipment, this love helped many of his family from costly repairs.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Weber State University in Computer Science.  He worked and retired at Thiokol/AutoLiv with the research and development of the Air Bag.  After his retirement he worked at Glen Eagle Golf Course in maintenance.  This combined two of his passions, his love of golf and repairing equipment.

His greatest joy was his family.  He loved just sitting in the background and watching his family enjoy each other.   He often would go and hear his brothers play in the Kap Brothers Band.  He was very proud of his family and all of their accomplishments.

Arnie is survived by his two daughters, Karlene (Ron) Yeoman and Deanne (Roger) Saunders; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his three brothers and three sisters, Robert (Kristan) Kap, Richard (Chris) Kap, Kelly Kap, Barbara Swapp, Marilyn (Norman) Thedell, and Denise (Pepper) Provenzano.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

A family celebration will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Hope Community/Senior Center, 5051 South 2000 West, Roy, Utah.  Friends and family may join us in this celebration of life.  Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
