Arnold Edgar Maas
UTAH/COLORADO- Arnold Edgar Maas, 92, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Castle Rock, Colorado.
He was born September 19, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois to Oscar Arthur and Anna Elizabeth Neumann Maas. He graduated from Carl Schurz High school in Chicago. During his lifetime he lived in Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, Riverdale, UT, Roy, UT and Parker, CO.
Arnold was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a Brazilian Mission from 1946 to 1949, Ogden Regional Mission from 1955 to 1957, Oakland Mission from 1985 to 1986, Los Angeles Family History Center Mission, and the Welfare Service Mission, from 1997 to 1998. He also served in the Cub Scout program which he loved.
He served in the US Army during World War II.
On August 31, 1951, Arnold married Leone Brown Pace in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on April 14, 1989.
He retired from the US Air Force Department of Defense as a maintenance mechanic. He was an avid handyman and enjoyed woodwork.
Arnold is survived by four children, LeAnn (Roger) Burnett, and LaNae (Scott) Rasmussen, both of Utah; Vern (Susan) Maas, CO; and Theron (Ruth) Maas, CA; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31st at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends and family may call at the mortuary on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
