NIAGARA FALLS, CANADA a€" Arnold Norman Parker Roberts, 90, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at Bella Senior Residence in Niagara Falls. He was born on May 9, 1917 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of Archibald Stanley Norman and Ellen Parker Roberts. Born of British parents, he was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba the oldest of two brothers and a sister. At age 23, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and was promoted to the teaching staff, using his background in radio and radar to ready many young technicians during World War II.

Arnold married his childhood sweetheart Audrey deWinter and together they raised four children. His military assignments took him throughout eastern Canada and London, England. At age 51, Arnold retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and was called to serve as Mission President of the Great Lakes Mission in Ft. Wayne, Indiana (1968-1971). After this assignment Arnold and Audrey purchased a campground in New Brunswick where they lived for twelve years. Following a mission and a call at the Washington D. C. Temple, Dad was called in 1989 to be the first temple president for the newly constructed Toronto Temple.

After his release, he continued to serve assigned shifts at the Toronto Temple until his later years.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Audrey; children Stanley (Donna) Roberts, Morewood, Canada; Leslie (Roger) Madsen, Boise, Idaho; Margo (Jim) McKinstry, Kaysville, Utah; and, Sybil (Bill) Enloe, Boise, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by one daughter Carol Anne; one grandchild Cynthia; and siblings Gordon, Stanley and Helen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
