Arnold M. Satterlee
SUNSET a" Arnold M. Satterlee came to rest on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 87, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to Eula O''Roke Satterlee and Emmett (Mike) Satterlee August 10, 1922 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Arnold grew up in Armarillo, Texas and moved to Utah in 1934. He graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College. Arnold served in the Army in World War II and received the Bronze Star.
He met his eternal companion, Margith Jean Lewis while both working at Defense Depot Ogden (DDO) and married July 31, 1946 in Logan. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised four children; Carol Horiuchi (Jun), Jill Singleton (Duane); Scott Satterlee, and Sandy Satterlee Wood (Roscoe). They have five grandchildren; Chris Singleton (Tamara), Brett Singleton (Casandra), Brian Singleton (Kailynn), Ryan Satterlee (Retta) and Haley Horiuchi. They have four great-grandchildren; Michael and Mackenzie Becker, Jayanne Singleton and Milly Singleton. He worked and retired from Defense Depot Ogden (DDO).
Arnold served the community of Sunset for 26 years in the Fire Department, 15 years as Fire Chief. He and Margith belonged to the Square Dance Association, dancing for 30 years. Arnold was president of the Double J Rustlers and the Hoop-n-Holler Dance Clubs. He was a member of the Sunset 3rd Ward, serving as Stake Dance Director. He was responsible for many of the youth attending the All Church Dance Festival.
Arnold''s hobbies included taxidermy, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was overwhelming. He enjoyed many adventures, and had the stories for each one.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Eula Satterlee, three sisters; Cleo Shurtleff, Helen Myers, and Phyllis Satterlee, and three brothers; Arthur Satterlee, Philip Satterlee, and Ralph Satterlee.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 338 W. 1800 N. Sunset. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
