Arthur G. Aylor

Art passed away peacefully Friday night, April 27, 2012, at Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. The eldest son of James Goebel and Icey Faye Mellon Aylor, Art was born on January 27, 1921 in Covington, KY. He grew up during the Depression, learned to hunt and fish in his youth and was a lifelong sportsman and a crack shot.

He enlisted in the Army and proudly served in the 394th Infantry under General Patton. He married the love of his life, Nona White, on November 5, 1943 in Ogden, Utah and built their first home. They had seven children then moved to Bountiful.

Always a hard worker, he was employed at a flour mill, the Ogden Arsenal and retired from Hill AFB after 39 years of civil service. A music lover, he sang in four church choirs and most recently worshipped at Grace Lutheran Church in Bountiful.

Art loved to golf, bowl, garden and feed the "bluebirds". He was a man of his word and of many words. We will miss his stories and his charm. He was a personable, caring and generous man who enjoyed the company of others and always wanted you to walk away with a banana or a can of beans. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Mortimer; sons James (Karen), David (Carol), Bradley (Kelli), Lance and Troy (Jill) Aylor; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and brother Elmer. Preceded in death by wife Nona, daughter Valene, brother Robert and sisters Charlotte and Jeanne.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family Friday from 6-8 pm and Sat. 10-10:30 am prior to services. Interment Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, Ogden, Utah.
