LAYTON a€" Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Arthur Kelly Green, age 72, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2008 at his home of a sudden heart attack.

Kelly was born April 23, 1936 in Ogden, Utah, son of Arthur Layton and Ruth Barlow Green. He graduated from Davis High School where he met the love of his life Carolyn Cook at their seminary graduation. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on October 12, 1956.

Kelly was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held various positions that he faithfully fulfilled. He served on the board for the National Onion Association and enjoyed all the many friendships he made while traveling and touring farms with the members. Kelly worked for 20 years at Eaton Kenway Engineering.

Kelly had a great love for farming. He spent his entire life tilling the soil on his family''s Utah Century Farm on Angel Street in Layton. His passion was raising onions and watching the crops grow from his John Deere tractor. He passed along a legacy of hard work and his love for the land by having his children and grandchildren work alongside him. He also loved engineering new projects in his shop to make farming easier. When he wasn''t farming, Kelly could be found watching the Jazz play from his green chair. Kelly and Carolyn enjoyed many years of camping in the Uintah Mountains with their children and grandchildren. He was his grandchildren''s greatest fan and attended all their activities.

Kelly was our family patriarch in the truest sense of the word. He was the stable of the family. He always worked hard, set the example for honesty, integrity, commitment, and follow through. "If it''s worth doing, it''s worth doing well." He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that will be missed for his funny sense of humor, strong hands, great hugs, and wise words of direction.

Survived by his wife, Carolyn Green; son, Jon (Carri) Green; daughters Kami (Scott) Barben; and Karolee (David) Clark; grandchildren, Jacob Stevenson, Kirk Green, Matthew Green, Eric Stevenson, Chelsea Green, Alex Green, Adam Clark, Aaron Clark, Ashley Clark, and Annaliese Clark.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Patricia Sargent.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the West Layton Gentile Chapel, 2120 W. Gentile. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel.

Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
