Arthur Edmond Hoggan Jr.
CLEARFIELD – Arthur Edmond Hoggan Jr., 89, was reunited with his eternal sweetheart, Ruth, on July 31, 2018. He passed away at Chancellor Gardens, surrounded by family.
He was born March 15, 1929 in Ogden, Utah the son of Arthur Edmond Hoggan Sr. and Bertha Warner Hoggan.
He graduated from Ogden High School. He served an LDS mission to Northern California. Ed served in the Counter-Intelligence Branch of the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed his career selling life insurance for Metropolitan Life and made many friends.
Ed married Ruth Reynolds on May 5, 1953 in the St. George LDS Temple. They moved to Denver for a short time before moving to Clearfield where they made their home.
He was an active member in the LDS Church and held various callings including Bishop.
He loved spending time with his family. He also loved Yellowstone, Oxbow Bend, the Tetons, camping, hunting and fishing. Ed loved to cook rib eye steaks over a camp fire and Dutch oven chicken. He loved airplanes and cherished the recent experience of flying in the B-17 bomber with his great-grandson, Davis. He enjoyed traveling and took many road trips with family.
Surviving are his sons, Kerry Edmond (Barbara) Hoggan, Rowlette, TX; Darin Blaine (Melody) Hoggan, Frisco, TX; daughters, Alene (Phil) Evans, Ogden; Heidi (Jerry) Pope, West Jordan; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife beloved Ruth, two sons, David and Douglas, parents and sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield 10th Ward, 350 No. Vine Street. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
