1946 – 2014
After a very long battle of poor and declining health, our father returned home to our Father in Heaven and his Savior, Jesus Christ , on October 3, 2014, as a glorious sunset spread across the western horizon.
He was born December 26, 1946 to Chester H. and Arlyne V. Laws. Raised primarily in Salt Lake City, graduating from Granite High in 1965. Served an LDS mission to the California South. Upon his return he met his sweetheart, Katherine Norman, marrying her August 29, 1968 in the Manti Temple and shared 46 years together. In the spring of 1970 he graduated with an Associate’s Degree from SLCC in Drafting Technology. He was blessed with four children.
In his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He shared a great love for scouting with his sons, receiving the Stone Award, Vigil rank in OA Award of Merit and Silver Beaver. He served faithfully in the LDS Church in a bishopric and various other callings.
Survived by his wife, three children Scott (Rebecca), James, and Virginia (Andrew); five grandchildren. Also survived by four brothers and spouses, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his daughter Erin Marie.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2014 at the West Bountiful 9 th Ward Chapel, 1930 N. 600 W. Friends may visit family Thurs. Oct. 9 th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Fri. from 9:30-10:30 am at the Church prior to services. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Bountiful, Utah.
