Arthur Z. Medina “Papa” RIVERDALE – Arthur Z. Medina, 67, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home. He was born January 1, 1940 in Dolores, Colorado, a son of Abe and Alice Shay Medina. On June 25, 1960, Arthur married Merlinda Cervantes at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ogden. He was raised in Colorado moving to Utah in 1952. Arthur attended and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after many years of service as a carman. Arthur loved to serve others, especially with his involvement at the St.Anne’s Shelter. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family. He loved camping with his grandsons. He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Wendover, Nevada. Arthur took pride in his yard and it showed. Surviving are his wife Merlinda of Riverdale; three daughters, Rita (Conrad) Romero, Las Vegas, NV; Andrea (John) Neiswender, South Ogden; Lisa Medina, Salt Lake City; and five grandsons, Royce, Ryan, Russell, Brody, Taylor and one granddaughter, Micah. Also surviving are seven siblings, Robert E. (Marcella) Medina, Layton; Francis (Curt) Erwin, Reno, NV; Rose (Ray) Peterson, South Ogden; Lorraine (Glen) Vernon, Perry, UT; Patricia (Tye) Cothron, Centerville; Gerald (Londy) Medina, and Anthony (Leticia) Medina, both of North Ogden. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Loretta Medina. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family. Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2740 Pennsylvania Avenue. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. where Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St Mary’s Building Fund.
