Arthur Ouzounian

Arthur Ouzounian was born in Aleppo Syria March 9, 1928 to Ruben Ouzounian and Mary Bozoglanian.  In 1950, at 21 years old, he emigrated to Utah together with 3 siblings seeking a better life.  In 1955 his parents, sister and youngest brother miraculously joined them where they would all be together to exercise their faith and worship freely.

Arthur’s grandfather started a legacy as he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, making Arthur a 3rd generation member of the church.  The incredible struggles, sacrifices and countless miracles of the Ouzounian pioneer ancestry created a deep conversion in Arthur that would never wavier.  Arthur’s legacy of service started at an early age where he spent countless hours in missionary service bringing faith and hope to others.  Prior to leaving for the United States, Arthur served as a counselor in the Aleppo Branch where he would bless the lives of the members there.

In 1955, Arthur met Sylvia Dahlstrom from Kalmar Sweden, who had emigrated to Utah the same year.  Their faith brought them together and they were married on March 29, 1957 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple.  They began their journey living in Salt Lake City and settled in Bountiful where they would raise their 2 boys and 2 girls.  Together with his wife, Arthur started their business A&R trucking that they ran together through 1997.  Arthur was a hard worker and placed value on teaching his children the same.  He did most all of his truck repairs and could fix anything.  He was persistent and creative and never gave up until the job at hand was complete.  He would always give credit to the Lord for his successes and continually taught his children to recognize blessings as they would come abundantly.

Arthur’s membership in the church meant everything to him.  His love of the Lord was evident in all he did.  Together with his wife and children they were called to serve in the Swedish Branch for over 17 years.  He served as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple throughout his life and held several callings in the church.  Arthur served several stake missions and together with his wife served a mission in the Stockholm Temple from 1995-1997, which he cherished and was a highlight of his life.  Arthur put God first and there wasn’t a day that would go by without him expressing his beliefs, whether it was by word or deed.

Arthur loved fishing, hunting, and gardening.  He was known for his meticulous gardens that he would share with everyone.  He would pray over his gardens which consistently brought bountiful harvests that he would freely give to those in need.  Not only did his gardens bless many, but his life was filled with charity for those who struggled and were in need.  Arthur and his wife spent countless hours over the years working with food pantries and homeless shelters providing resources and assistance to ensure bellies were full.  He was always concerned about the poor and needy and would give whatever he had to help and improve the circumstances of others.  Arthur clearly understood charity as he constantly studied the scriptures and learned from the Master.  He lived a life dedicated to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.  He was close to the Lord and prayed daily for opportunities to be led to those in need whom he could help or serve in some way.  Arthur was a true Christian as he sought to follow the Savior and honor him by listening to promptings and take action to do His work.  He had the faith of a giant and was not afraid to share his beliefs and testimony.  Arthur leaves behind a legacy of faith that has greatly influenced his family and the countless people he has helped, served and loved.  He will not be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Samuel, Albert, George and sisters Angela and Josephine.  He is survived by his wife Sylvia, daughter Monica (Karl Erik) Forsman, son Artine (Tina) Ouzounian, daughter Sonya (Jon) Jarrett and son Daniel (Andrea) Ouzounian as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We will be honoring Arthur with funeral services that will be held Saturday June 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Val Verda 3rd Ward, 2651 South 500 West in Bountiful, where friends may visit from 9:00 – 10:30 am prior to services.  Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.  Care entrusted to Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary.
