Arthur Lawrence Salas

May 23, 1951 ~ March 29, 2019

Our beloved brother, Art, passed away peacefully at Ogden Regional Medical Center surrounded by family on March 29, 2019. He was 67 years old. Art was born on May 23, 1951 to Alfred and Helen Salas. Art was a lifelong resident of Ogden, Utah. He attended Ogden Schools, graduating from Ben Lomond High School.

He married Yolanda Mora on June 23, 1979 and later divorced.

Art was self employed, owning and operating Art’s Custom Upholstery for many years until his health problems began. He developed diabetes at a young age and he received a kidney from his brother tom. He suffered for many years, but he always had a positive attitude and never complained. He remained cheerful, with a smile on his face.

In Art’s younger years he loved cars. That earned him many speeding tickets while cruising “The Boulevard.” His hobbies were fishing, NASCAR, NFL, and rebuilding and customizing cars.

Art didn’t have any children, but he had 11 nieces and nephews that he loved like they were his own. He taught them many things, including the upholstery trade. He had 17 great-nieces and nephews that he always had fun teasing. They all loved to be around him.

Art is survived by his siblings, Jimmy (Olga) Salas of Roy, UT, Susan (Art) Trujillo of North Ogden, UT, Edward (Chiaki) Salas of West Haven, UT, Tom (Lori) Salas of Rexburg, ID, and Dora Gomez of Clinton, UT.  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.

Our family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Mark Lyndsey Dialysis Center. They were Art’s second family that he cared so much for.

Many thanks to Dr. Cerrera and the outstanding nursing staff at Ogden Regional, and Dr. Bruce and the nursing staff with Inspiration Home Health and Hospice.
