Artis Maxine Marshall Hicks

Artis Marshall Hicks, 80, passed away peacefully at her son’s home surrounded by family on Thursday, February 27, 2014.  She was born in Ogden on November 12, 1933 to Curtis H. and Alice Maxine Barth Marshall.

She married James V. Hicks Jr. on August 23, 1952 in Ogden.  They later divorced.

Artis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed and looked forward to taking trips to Yellowstone.

Artis is survived by her sons, James R. (Deborah) Hicks, North Ogden and Mikel C. Sr. (Deean) Hicks, Layton; daughter, Barri Hicks, Ogden; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Eldon (Marcella) Marshall, Centerville; and sister, Carma (Rex) Bennett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Dale Marshall and sister, Arlene Peterson.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Huntsman Cancer Institute, 500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84108.
