Arval Earl “Pete” Prescott
August 28, 1934 ~ November 24, 2018
Arval Earl “Pete” Prescott, 84, of Uintah, Utah, returned home to his wife in heaven on November 24, 2018. Pete was born on August 28, 1934 in Heber City, Utah, the oldest of four children to Earl Levi Prescott and Reba Howarth.
Pete married Cheril Barnum on July 20, 1956.
He was a truck driver for 60 years. He was employed by others before becoming the proud owner and operator of Hilltop Trucking in 1982. Before retirement, Pete earned several Million Mile Safety Awards that have hung in his home for years. In his down time, you could find Pete helping anyone that was in need. Pete loved to jump on the tractor to plow snow in the winter, as well as deliver the Deseret News to local residents in town.
Pete’s love for trucks did not end with his work. He competed in truck rodeos and later in life competed with the United Truck and Tractor Pullers, pulling in his 1979 Ford for the All Jacked Up Pulling Team. The way the crowd cheered when he was helped out of his truck and off the track always put a smile on his face. His final trip down the track was in Tremonton, Utah on September 9, 2018.
Other things Pete enjoyed were splitting wood, building a fire in his wood burning stove, watching sports on TV, spending time in the garage, playing the lottery, going to Mesquite, eating at Golden Corral, and drinking coffee. There was rarely a time you would see Pete without a coffee mug in hand.
Pete is survived by his four children, Roger (Annette) Prescott, Rodney Prescott (Cindy), ReNae Smithey (Dan Thompson), and Russ Prescott (Autumn Hodson); and 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, and a sister.
