Arvel Woodward
KAYSVILLE – Arvel Woodward, age 90, died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center Layton, Utah of congestive heart failure.
He was born March 1, 1919 in Neola, Utah a son of James Franklin and Amanda Brothers Woodward. He was raised in Neola and attended school in Neola and Roosevelt, Utah.
He married Beatrice Virginia Adams June 29, 1940 in Vernal, Utah. After living in Neola, Utah for a short period they moved to Kaysville, Utah, then back to Neola to operate his mother and father’s farm. After farming a couple of years they returned to Kaysville where they made their home and were members of the Kaysville 1st Ward for the remainder of their lives.
He taught his family to have integrity, be honest, to be a good citizen and to be kind and considerate of others. He enjoyed visiting family, attending family parties, road trips, fishing, hunting, camping and attending sporting events of his family. In his later years he enjoyed eating out and one of his favorite restaurants was McDonald’s. He and his brother William operated and owned the Clearfield Shoe Repair Shop for 30 plus years until they chose to retire the end of December 1991.
Arvel was married to Beatrice for 59 years. The last few years of their marriage Beatrice became ill and he was an outstanding husband taking loving care of her. She died March 23, 2000. He married Alta Fawn Baxter Woodward Broyles April 21, 2003 and again he took care of his wife during her sickness. Alta died May 17, 2005.
Arvel is survived by two sons and three daughters: Donald E. (Nancy) Woodward of Kaysville, Utah; Deanna (B.J.) Smith of Layton, Utah; LaRae (Max) Whitesides of Morgan, Utah; LaVauna (Zack) Romero of Kaysville, Utah; Ronald A. (Natayla) Woodward of Kaysville, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Thursday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
