On the afternoon of March 15, 2023, Aspen Lee Lane passed away in Clinton, Utah at the age of 28. Aspen was born in Ogden, Utah on November 16, 1994, to her parents Shelly Lopaz and Dennis Lane. She primarily grew up and lived in Clinton, Utah. On September 8, 2022, Aspen finally became one thing she had wanted her whole life – a mother. After falling in love with her longtime childhood friend and neighbor, Michael “Buddy” Whitesell, she gave birth to her baby girl, Rain Whitesell. She was so excited about motherhood and posted many pictures of Rain.
Aspen grew up as a very spirited person who loved going to Lagoon and Classic Skating Rink as a teenager, and she made many friends there. Aspen loved being able to talk to anyone and hang out at those places, which gave her the perfect chance to socialize as much as she loved to. The summer was the perfect time of year for Aspen, as she enjoyed lying out in the sun to get a tan, riding four-wheelers while camping in the mountains, and going to the drive-in to watch movies. Aspen enjoyed being able to spend time going to dinner at Olive Garden anytime she got the chance. Aspen loved spending time with her grandmother by going on shopping sprees around the mall and spending time with her mother going and getting their nails done together. One thing that Aspen loved as much as her older brother, Trevor, was the love of video games and anime. She was never afraid to brag about how she got it from him.
She is preceded in death by her father (Dennis Lane), great-grandparents (Clara Miller Byrd and Lowell Byrd, Donna and William Shafer), great-aunt (Nancy Ross), and uncle (Brian Shafer). Aspen is survived by her daughter (Rain Lynn Whitesell), brothers (Trevor Lopaz, Jason Lane, Tyler Lane), mother (Shelly Lopaz), grandparents (Sandra and Doug Shafer), uncle (Tyson Shafer), and many cousins, aunts, and uncles from her extended family.
We leave you now in the hands of our Lord and Father in Heaven to guide you home. We will strive to show Rain the vibrant love and nature that you possessed in life, and we will always carry your memory in our hearts!
