Audine Kennington Stafford
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Audine Kennington Stafford passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 in Farmington, Utah. She was the daughter of George Seward and Martha Weber. She was born on December 19, 1924 in Afton, Wyoming. Audine married Wendall James Stafford in 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. They later divorced. While raising seven young children she graduated from the University of Utah. She enjoyed 23 years teaching at Whitesides Elementary in Layton. She loved spending time with her family. She was an amazing woman that had a profound influence on her family. Her passion was reading good books. She loved and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ as a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her children: Karen (Mick) Pottorff, Sharon (Dennis) Miller, Marilyn (Ron) Barney, Bobbie (Jay) DeVere, Bev (Bob) Thurgood, Steven (Pam) Stafford and Renee (Steve) Jacob and 26 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren who will miss her terribly. Also survived by brothers; Gordon (Carol) Kennington, Eugene (Colleen) Kennington, Craig (Helen) Kennington, sister-in-law Dorothy Kennington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, six sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Afton, Wyoming Cemetery with a graveside service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Perpetual Education Fund.
