Ward Turner, 88, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2011 of natural causes.
He was born November 6, 1922 in Lyman, Utah to David Ernest and Hulda Artemisha Allen Turner. He was raised in Lyman, Utah and later moved to Springville where he graduated from Springville High School.
From 1943 to 1945, Ward served in Patton''s 3rd US Army during World War II.
On May 15, 1946, Ward married Fay Bradford in the Manti LDS Temple.
He worked as a manager for Bradshaw Auto Parts in Manti and Ogden.
Ward was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including a member of the Bishopric and other leadership positions. He especially enjoyed the many years he served with his wife, Fay, as a temple worker in the Ogden LDS Temple.
He enjoyed time spent with family at their summer home in Lyman.
Ward is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fay; their children, Connie (Thaynne) Wescoatt, SLC; Gary Ward Turner, West Weber; Diane (John) Borzea, Green River, WY; Bradford Kay (Carolyn) Turner, Hooper; Kathy (Clark) Chappell, Lyman; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fonzo Turner, Lyman; and Duane Turner, Pleasant Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Nelson and Guy, sister, Leola Chappell and granddaughters, Wendy Anne Wescoatt and Holly Chappell.
The family would like to thank the staff at George E. Wahlen Veterans Home and Bristol Hospice for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22nd at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
The family will meet with friends on Sunday, August 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
