On Saturday, March 11, 2023, our loving mother and best friend, Barbara Kay Bird, 87, a long-time Ogden resident, passed away peacefully at her home with her daughters by her side. Barbara was born on February 15, 1936 in Ogden to Lester Arvel and June Passey Sorensen. She graduated from Ogden High School and then attended Weber College.
In 1955 she married Richard Glen Bird in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They later divorced.
In her younger days, Barbara loved working at Peery’s Egyptian Theatre in Ogden. She also worked at IRS and eventually retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993 as a supply technician.
Barbara was an avid gambler, taking short trips to Wendover, and also enjoyed spending sunny summer days at the pool with her grandchildren. She loved laughing and joking with her caring girlfriends and loving family. She will be remembered for her giving nature, always caring for others more than herself, and had a tremendously funny disposition.
Barbara was loved by everyone who knew her – she had the biggest giving heart for friends and family. She was a truly beautiful lady, inside and out. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved spoiling her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Rae Bird and Suzette Bird both of Ogden; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Lori Bird Sommer, and by her parents, as well as her ex-husband, Richard.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, Ogden. Cremation in care of Lindquist Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
