Barbara Phillips Bybee

1939 – 2015

KAYSVILLE – On September 16, 2015, after a five year battle with Alzheimer’s, our beautiful mother is singing every word in the heavenly choir.  Barbara was born August 2, 1939 to Ardelle and Ellen Phillips.  She was the youngest of seven children and was raised high on a mountain top in Farmington, Utah.  In 1957 she graduated from Davis High and in 1960 married Joseph Dwain Bybee.  They built their lives in Kaysville and had four children.  Barbara lived many years in the Kaysville 5th Ward, and many more years in the Kaysville 3rd Ward.  She loved her wards dearly and made many lifelong friends.  She worked at IRS for 25 years and retired in 1996 at the age of 55.  After her husband died in 1984, she found a new hobby; square dancing with the Ogden Singles.  She continued to dance until she could dance no more.  She met Bill Bauman who became her special friend for over 22 years.

Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and sharing her love of music, nature, and the gospel with them.  She loved her many adventures with her sister and best friend Bernice, Bill, and Glen.  Barbara had a smile and laugh that were truly infectious and her joyous spirit continued to shine even through Alzheimer’s terrible inflictions.  Barbara was kind, gentle, and selfless in all things.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Dellas, Ray, Max; sisters Cleo (Ramage), Bernice (Horne), Lucy (Petersen); grandson James Joseph Manos, Bill, and Glen Elder.

She is survived by daughter Belinda (Steve) Billmire, son Troy (Marie) Bybee, son Rick (Emily) Bybee, daughter Kristi (Todd) Palmer, 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

We are so thankful to all the staff and residents at Fairfield Village and Inspiration Hospice Care for the incredible love and care they gave to our mom.  Barbara loved each of you dearly.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Mutton Hollow Stake Center, 855 E. Mutton Hollow Road, Kaysville.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
