March 23, 1938 — July 19, 2018

Barbara Ann (Forbes) Carlos

Barbara Ann (Forbes) Carlos, 80, beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 19, 2018 in Ogden, Utah.  She was born on March 23, 1938 in Clinton, Utah, the oldest child to Merlin and Dora May Taylor Forbes.

Barbara grew up on a farm in East Layton, Utah, where she learned the value of hard work and especially enjoyed being in the hay fields with her “Daddy”.  Her mother was a great cook and taught her how to cook at a young age.  On many occasions Barbara would prepare the supper meal for the family and all would eat together when the farm chores were done.

Barbara attended Davis High School. She married Richard C. Carlos on May 6, 1955 in Farmington, Utah.  They made their home in Ogden, Utah and together raised five children.

She worked for many years at Sierra Lingerie which later became Pilkington Apparel.  She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren.  Barbara was an avid reader.  She also enjoyed golfing and working in her flower gardens, and most especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Sheila A. Carlos and Holly (Mark) Skeen, her sons, Todd R. Carlos and Tracy R. Carlos, sister Marie (Dale) Seegmiller, daughter-in-law, Julie Carlos, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren with two on the way, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, Earl Forbes and Blain Forbes, sister-in-law, Renee, sister Evelyn and her son, Craig Carlos.

The family would like to thank the staff of Mt. Ogden Health and Rehabilitation for their loving care of our sweet mother.  With a special thank you to “Emily” for her compassion to mom and her family.

We love and miss you, Mom.  May you rest in peace.
