Barbara Burnett Ekstrom
February 7, 1930 ~ June 14, 2018
Our very loved Barbara left this life on June 14, 2018, to many happy reunions in heaven. She was born in Ogden, Utah on February 7, 1930. She grew up there and graduated from Ogden High School.
Barbara married her best friend Lamont Ekstrom on February 28, 1948. They spent nearly 70 wonderful and happy years together. They made Syracuse, Utah their home for most of their married life and raised three sons together – Dee, Dennis, & Kevin.
Barbara and Lamont built a sanctuary in this life, a cabin in the mountains of Utah near Monte Cristo. The cabin was an incredible source of relaxation, recreation, and countless memories for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
During the past several years, Barbara and Lamont spent much of their time in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho operating their EZ Livin’ Inn. She loved her family very much and enjoyed every chance she had to visit with them and help them in any way possible. She made sure that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were spoiled every holiday and every birthday. She was an amazing cook and always made the holidays extremely memorable. She was known for having a stubborn but caring personality. When she made up her mind it was impossible to convince her otherwise! She would help anyone and had a high reputation of trust and a fierce loyalty. Her generosity and loving ways will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Barbara was truly “One of a Kind” and has been told many times that the mold was broken when she was made.
Barbara is survived by her son, Dennis (Kay) Ekstrom; daughters-in-law Jolene Ekstrom and Alicia Ekstrom; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Burton, Ron Burnett, Mary Lee McKee, and JoLynn Marcusen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Burnett; husband, Lamont Ekstrom; sons, Kevin Ekstrom and Dee Ekstrom; and siblings, Bud Burnett, Jerry Burnett and Judy Argyle.
