Barbara Jean Kellos Ferguson

Barbara Jean Kellos Ferguson, age 94, passed away in her West Layton home on April 15, 2023. Barbara was born in Ogden Utah on November 21, 1928. She was the daughter of Hyrum Kellos and Sylvia Mills. Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother, always admiring her family and ensuring they knew her love. 

Barbara lived a full life in many regions – Ogden, Utah; Southern California; Salt Lake City, Utah; and then settled in Layton, Utah to raise her family. Barbara worked many jobs but loved assisting other women in her retail position at The Bon Marche. 

After retiring she dedicated her time to her grandchildren, helping take them to first jobs, and soccer matches. She was always first up to support her beloved grandchildren Mason, Braidee, and Markell in all of their adventures. 

She was a lover of mystery novels, a doll collector, and enjoyed golf. She always looked forward to traveling, especially to anywhere with an ocean. 

Barbara is survived by her daughter Dana (Mike) Kolendrianos; her daughter Jody Pobanzandrus; her daughter Leslie Pobanz; her son Mark Pobanz; her 11 grandchildren, and her six great grand puppies. 

She is proceeded in death by her sons Max Pobanz and Paul Pobanz, her daughter Christie Pobanz, and son in law Andy Andrus.

Barbara will be remembered for her strong independent personality and caring nature that was shared with everyone she met. She lived a beautiful long life surrounded by her cherished family. She touched so many people with her positive light. A special thanks to her daughter Dana and son-in-law Mike, who ensured she was always with family and cared for in their home. And to Pattie Child, Mike’s sister, who was always there for Barbara, as well as Mary Ellen Haycock, Barbara’s sweetest friend and caretaker in her final years.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42^nd Street, Ogden, Utah.  Friends may visit with family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park in Layton.
