Barbara June Flannery

Barbara June Speirs Flannery 2/27/1931-7/4/2007 "Grandma Barb"

Our loving mother, grandma, great grandma and sister returned to her Heavenly Father on July 4, 2007, in Bountiful, Utah, at the age of 76. She slipped away peacefully of natural causes with her family by her side.

Barbara was born in Helper, Utah to William Leigh and Eunice June Speirs. Raised in Salt Lake City she attended and graduated from South High School and later graduated in nursing from Weber State University with honors. She married Jerry Flannery on March 4, 1948, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were later divorced. She taught primary and served as Cub Scout den mother. Barb worked for many years at Davis Hospital as an ER nurse. Although the job was hard and the hours long, she loved what she did, earning the friendship and respect of her patients and colleagues for her intellect and dedication she displayed as a RN.

Mom''s focus and purpose in life was her devotion to family; particularly her grand and great grandchildren. They were and are the love of her life, and they all know it. Her home was the meeting place on holidays, creating memories that will last forever.

She read constantly, books were her hobby and entertainment. Her quick wit and a sarcastic sense of humor was her trademark. Grandma Barb never missed one of her kidlets birthdays and contributed to the success of Coca-Cola with her never-ending supply of diet coke.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Alan. She is survived by her sister Shirley Haycock, Salt Lake City; children Kathleen Hurst (Doug), Ogden; Mark Flannery (Becky), Centerville; Kevin Flannery (Tami), North Salt Lake; Bryan Flannery (Carolee), Centerville; Claudia Dee Carlson (Mike), Kaysville; 23 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Bountiful 24th Ward Chapel, 720 E. 550 N. Friends may call Sunday, July 8th at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. from 6-8 pm and Monday 9:45-10:45 am at the church prior to services. Interment Farmington City Cemetery.
