Barbara Jensen Gilbert
September 21, 1929 ~ July 8, 2014
Barbara Jensen Gilbert, 84, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2014 in her home. She was born on September 21, 1929 in Ogden, Utah to Elmer M. and Ivy Lloyd Jensen. She attended Ogden City School and graduated from Ogden High School.
She married Blaine Gilbert on July 22, 1949 in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 12, 1971. Blaine passed away on February 9, 1997.
Barbara worked as a beautician for many years out of her home and loved her clientele. She also worked at Hill Air Force Base in the hangar and at Hercules as a security guard. Barbara had the privilege of being a Majorette in the American Legion.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed teaching the Mutual Girls.
Barbara enjoyed traveling with her husband, mother, and granddaughters. She saw the glaciers of Alaska, the beaches of Fuji, the harbour of Sydney, the rain forests of Hawaii, the mountains of Colorado, and all the smiles of Southern California.
She loved ironing and the Jazz and took pleasure in tending to her yard especially her ferns. Barbara loved the outdoors and camping in her trailer at the Eagles Campground. In 1989 the family bought a cabin outside of Heber in Timberlakes. She took great joy restoring it and found peace in the mountains with her family and the animals.
Barbara’s pride and joy was her family. She was a grandma to everyone. It didn’t matter how big or how small. Barbara rarely missed a night without calling her sister.
Barbara is survived by her son, Robert B. (Gloria Jean) Gilbert, Roy; granddaughters, Dawn Gilbert (Tana Miller), Sunset; and Dusty Gilbert, Washington Terrace; great-granddaughter, Alita Gilbert, Washington Terrace; sisters, LaVon Favero, Hooper and Shirley Dostal, Colorado Springs, CO.
