Barbara Ann Goodfellow passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at her home from a courageous battle with cancer at age 83 surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born on January 15, 1933, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Willard Erving Olive and Elaine Wright Olive Jacobson. The family moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Pocatello, Idaho during her first year. She travelled to Pocatello with her Grandmother Wright by train because she was not well enough to make the two-day drive by model T Ford (tent camping along the way).
Barbara always loved the water, kids, clocks, fishing, dogs, horses, and anything to do with the out of doors. She was the baton twirler for her high school, leading the parades down the streets of Pocatello. She married John Richard Harris in 1949 and they had two children, Johnny Michael Harris and Cheryl Elaine Curtis. They moved to Bountiful, Utah, in 1954 for Johnny’s work. She and Johnny were divorced in 1961 and she went to work to support herself and her two children. For 30 years, she worked for Husky Oil Refinery which later became Flying J. She began on the switch board, rising through various positions to retire as head dispatcher. She married John Kelly Goodfellow in November 1968. He passed away in 2003. Barbara loved his two children Kelly Russell (Rusty) Goodfellow and Teresa Jamison.
Barbara’s pioneer heritage instilled a hard work ethic and fierce independence. She did not own a mop because floors were best done with a scrub brush on her knees. Barbara was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, loved her Syracuse Center Ward, and living in Walker Estates where she was loved and adored by all who knew her. She was actively involved in her Senior Center and enjoyed many outings and activities through the years. Barbara touched many lives with her kindness and acts of service.
Barbara is survived by her sister Darleen (Lee ) Strickland, son, Johnny Michael (Kathleen) Harris, daughter, Cheryl Elaine Curtis, stepson, Rusty (Tonna), Goodfellow, stepdaughter Theresa (Steve) Jamison, and 11 grandchildren: Johnny Ralph Harris, Lisa (Michael) Spencer, Scott Dressen, Mandy (Bryan) Anderson, Taylor (Amanda) Dressen, Rachel (Tory) Shirley, Brandon (Emily) Walsh, Breanna (John) Eriguel, Malinda (Josh) Passey, Josh (Kirstina) Jamison, and Abby Goodfellow.
She had 16 great grandchildren: Logan Reed, Hayden Shirley, Olivia Shirley, Julia Anderson, Alyssa Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Amelia Dressen, Otto Dressen, Kyerra Timm, William Walsh, Elyse Walsh, Sabrina Walsh, Natalie Eriguel, Mason Passey, Ethan Passey, and Collin Passey. She also had the Mike and Fran Palmer family that she loved as if they were her own.
