BARBARA COLLINS KNIGHT
OGDEN a" Our wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on March 31st after a long bout with Alzheimer''s and a short challenging injury. She was born in Stroner, WY on January 26, 1927 to Mary and Art Collins. She moved to Worland, WY at age 10 and then to Ogden, UT in 1943. She graduated from Ogden High School. She married her "home from the war" sweetheart, Clair Knight, on July 31st, 1946. They were later divorced.
She worked at a variety of positions at the Defense Depot Ogden during the 1950''s. In 1956, she was one of the first employees hired for the Internal Revenue Service Western Service Center. She retired from the IRS in the 1980''s. After retirement she worked as a Hostess for the Flying J Restaurant in Ogden where she always had a smile and friendly conversation for all.
She traveled extensively in her fifth wheel trailer throughout the southwest and even into Mexico. In her leisure time, her favorite hobbies were ballroom and square dancing and making porcelain figurines, especially dolls.
She is survived by her three children Byron Knight (Dianne) of North Ogden, Deanne Knight Brown (Ron) of Missoula, MT and Gwen Knight Eubank (Chuck) also of Missoula, MT. She had seven grandchildren and fifteen great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as sisters Bernice Collins Warner and Lois Collins Murray.
The family wishes to thank Emeritus Estates Assisted Living, especially the Memory Care Unit, for the fantastic care she received on a daily basis. Also, thanks to Crestwood Care Center for the wonderful support and care in the difficult final days.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary , 3408 Washington Blvd. Family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
