Barbara Cantwell Nelson October 15, 1931 ~ April 2, 2013 "LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK SEVENTEEN TIMES" Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend Barbara Nelson passed quietly on April 2, 2013 after years of health issues. Barbara Cantwell Nelson was born on October 15, 1931 to Alma Yeates and Florence Leatham Cantwell in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State College. She loved Ogden High and kept in touch with class members throughout her life. She married Richard D. Nelson June 27, 1949 in Ely, Nevada and they were later sealed to their family in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married 64 years this June. Barbara and Dick have four wonderful children who are the most important people in their life: N. Scott (Pat) Nelson, Debra (Cory) Call, Kevin (Kiele) Nelson and Alison Nelson; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Summers, Cami (Roger) Johnson, Christopher (Andrea) Nelson, Blake Nelson (deceased), Michael (Rebecca) Nelson, Mitch Nelson (deceased), Stefanie (Chris) Versey, Ashley Nelson, Amanda (Jason) Barber, McKenzee (Brandon LeVitre) Morley, Rilee Morley and 10 great grandchildren. Barbara''s husband, Dick "jack of all trades" has been her caretaker and source of strength to her as her health has had many serious challenges. He did everything for her and was always there for her and their children. She loved the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She belonged to the South Ogden 5th Ward and served in many callings throughout her life. She and Dick were called to be ordinance workers in the Ogden LDS Temple and enjoyed working together until her health prohibited her from serving there. Barbara loved people and animals, especially schnauzers. She had many lifelong friends. If she called you "sweetie" you knew you were special. Barbara belonged to the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 57 years. She loved her sorority sisters and attending their activities. Barbara enjoyed scrapbooking, photography and gardening. She was a "Pink Lady" at McKay Dee Hospital for over 40 years and gave over 4000 hours of volunteer service. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Cantwell and her family. Barbara is preceded by her beloved parents, brother, Lewis Cantwell, two grandsons, Blake Nelson and Mitch Nelson and her cherished schnauzer, Sami. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Barb''s dear sister-friend, Peggy Dunn. Her love and devotion is a beautiful example of true friendship. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the South Ogden 5th Ward Chapel, 4380 Orchard Ave., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Special Thanks to Robert Chandler and Karrie Gasvon and the staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice for the tender care given to Barbara.
