Barbara Stephens
1922 – 2011
Our dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away August 5, 2011 at her home in Kaysville, Utah. Barbara was born June 7, 1922 to Charles Lorenzo and Rose Thomas Burdett in Pocatello, Idaho. As a child and teenager, Barbara gamely embraced her family’s many moves to towns throughout Utah, Idaho, and Montana. As an adult, she loved to golf, bowl, read, play bridge, and travel. In her later years Barbara focused on the things dearest to her: her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the home she and her husband built nearly 50 years ago.
Barbara, an intelligent and astute woman, impressed those around her with her subtle wit, quiet loyalty, and enduring strength. She took pleasure in life’s small gifts and she faced difficulties with courage and determination. Her family will remember these qualities and many more that cannot be fully described. They will also remember the many minutes, hours, and days made wonderful by Barbara’s presence.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Stephens, whom she married on September 26, 1947. She also leaves behind her children, Scott (Cindy), Doug (Ellie), and Ann (Keven); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Utah Food Bank or charity of your choice. Barbara’s family thanks the staff at Applegate Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their kindness and care.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
