Barbara Elaine Szanter

Barbara Elaine Szanter, 55, passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 14, 2015.  She was born on October 7, 1959 in Tuscola, Illinois, to Arlie Clemens and Edith Adelia Wells Soards.

She moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1984. Barbara married Robert William Szanter on May 24, 1986 in Los Angeles.  They were blessed with three daughters.  They later divorced but remained friends.  She lived in Los Angeles until 2013 when she moved her family to Pleasant View, UT.

Barbara was an active member of her California Catholic Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes.

She worked at the Antelope Animal Hospital in Clearfield.  She was an avid fan and member of ASPCA and the Humane Society.  Barbara loved animals especially her five dogs.  She had a passion for helping at animal shelters and doing charity work.

Barbara is survived by her ex-husband, Robert Szanter of Los Angeles, CA; daughters, Ashley Szanter, Stephanie Szanter, and Katy Szanter all of Pleasant View; brother, Ronald Eugene Soards of Indianapolis, IN; and sister, Arline Marie Soards, Pleasant View.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.
