Beatrice Mae Anderson Mosser
Grandma Bea
May 14, 1930 – February 8, 2014
Beatrice Mae Anderson Mosser went home to be with Jesus on February 8, 2014. She bravely fought ovarian cancer for three years.
Ms Bea came into this world on May 14, 1930 as her mother Beatrice Amelia Hursh Anderson left this world not knowing she had a baby girl. Bea’s father was James Forester Anderson of New Kensington, PA. After two weeks in the hospital her mother’s sister Elvina Evelyn Hursh Graham and husband Joseph A. Graham took her home and raised her. The doctor said she wouldn’t live. Her four-year old brother Harvey Lambert Anderson was raised by his grandparents. She was raised on Logan’s Ferry Hill Road outside of New Kensington, PA. When she was six, her cousin William Elvin Graham was born and they were raised as brother and sister.
Grandma Bea learned to sew and started making her own clothes by 7th grade. She graduated from Plum High in 1948. She got a job at Silverman’s Dept Store altering clothing for three years. Her mother-in-law to be, Margaret Jones Mosser, introduced her to her son, William (Bill) Adam Mosser. They had one date around Christmas, 1950 before Bill was sent away to Florida with the Air Force. They wrote letters. They were married August 27, 1951. Two children were born of this 55-year union. Tandra Gay Mosser McLeroy (Jim) of Houston, Texas. William Kirby Mosser (Sherry) of Roy, Utah. They have five grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, beloved nieces and nephews, and many others who call her Grandma Bea.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harvey, her husband Bill, her son, Kirby, and her granddaughter, Candace Clark Mosser.
Bea is a Born-Again Christian. She asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior , she and Bill were baptized in May 1971. They joined First Southern Baptist Church, Clearfield, which later moved to Layton and became Mountain View Baptist. Together Bill and Bea served the Lord. She created may displays for the library window when the church was in Clearfield. She made wedding and anniversary cakes. She kept the altar full of beautiful floral arrangements. She made table decorations for events. She also served on the baptismal committee. Bea enjoyed sewing and sharing her handmade gifts. Her passion was teaching pre-school children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School (VBS) for 40 years. She also taught teachers in VBS clinics for the Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention.
Between 1962 and 1969, Bill and Bea were active at the Hill AFB Chapel teaching Sunday School classes and serving as youth sponsors. Bea served with the Protestant Women of the Chapel. They were also members of the American Legion Post 134 in Clearfield.
Bea and Bill loved serving Jesus. Many remember them as cornerstones of Mountain View. They have done their part, now they are home with Jesus praising Him all day long!
