Beatrice A. O’Dell
OGDEN – Beatrice Annetta O’Dell, 86, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Ogden.
She was born January 30, 1924 in Silver City, New Mexico, a daughter of J.R. and Lissie Lee Baker Short.
Beatrice married Leland O’Dell in 1965. They were later divorced.
She was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for 40 plus years.
Beatrice worked as a nursing assistant in Washington and Utah. She also worked for the Ogden School District as a cook for several years.
She was very active in the Senior Community and served some 41 years in both the Ogden Housing Authority Board of Commissioners and the Ogden Housing Authority Resident Advisory Board. At the time of her death, she was serving on both the Area Agency and Aging Advisory Boards and the Senior Companion Advisory Board. Beatrice had been a Senior Companion in Ogden for 24 years.
Beatrice enjoyed crocheting and singing, loved writing poetry, crossword puzzles, and watching animated movies.
Surviving are two sons, Roy E. Douglass and Randy L. O’Dell; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters, Edna Mollenkoph Cummings and Lillie Baker Enquist.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 1770 East 6200 South, South Ogden.
Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
