On September 4, 2014, Bea peacefully passed during her sleep. She was 80 years old. She was born in Fruita, CO on October 18, 1933, the second of eight children. At the age of 18 she moved to Utah, where she later met and married her husband of 57 years, Charlie Rodarte.
For many years she worked at Hill Air Force Base as a systems analyst. After her retirement, she and Charlie traveled throughout Central America for his work and lived in El Salvador for five years. Traveling was one of her enjoyments, especially her “sister trips.”
She was a member of St. Rose of Lima. She loved bowling, gardening, reading, dancing, crafting, and especially her grandchildren. They cherish the memories of the stories she used to tell, making kids’ drinks to look like Grandpa’s drinks, cuddling up with them and watching TV, her greetings after a hard day at work, dancing in the family room, baking cookies, and her feistiness. She could always be counted on to tell it as she saw it.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie “Geno” (Lorrie) Rodarte, Hooper; Ronald Rodarte, Layton; one daughter, Debbie (Jim Smith) Rodarte; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 4 brothers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; granddaughter, Gabrielle Smith; and her parents, Hilario and Lillian Chavez.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 210 S. Chapel, Layton. Friends may visit family on Tuesday, September 9 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, followed by a prayer service from 7 to 8 p.m.
Although she left us unexpectedly, we are comforted in knowing she is now at peace in the arms of her beloved husband.
