Beaver Ernest Prince passed away surrounded by family on December 6th, 2020 in the comfort of his own home. His return to Heaven took place just two weeks after discovering he had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
He was born in Alice, TX to Maxine Kinsel and Paul Alex Prince on June 1, 1950. His time growing up was spent between Baytown, TX and the family ranch just outside of McCoy, TX with his older brother Paul Alex and his older sister Linnie Jo. He also spent many a day with his Grandpa Ernest Kinsel.
After graduating in 1968 from Ross Sterling High School he served as a special services chef in the US Navy until an injury required him to have an honorable discharge. Before leaving Texas he was married briefly to Nancy Kramer and had his first son, Christopher Ernest Prince (1972).
His occupation as a truck driver during that time sent him to Utah where he ended up in a VA hospital after an accident. The gentleman in the bed next to him had a copy of the Book of Mormon on his bedside table. After 6 months of missionaries and fellowshipping he was baptized in the Salt Lake Tabernacle in May of 1977. Being a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was something he was very proud of.
He decided to stay in Utah and lived in Salt Lake Avenues. Later that same year he met the love of his life, Mary Ruth Cole. They were married on Nov 19, 1977 and sealed in the Ogden temple a year later. In the following years Beaver and Mary were blessed with two more children, Mindy Jo (1979) and Benjamin Ross (1981). Their marriages to Mike and Pam, respectively, brought nine beautiful grandchildren. Those grandkids, and a few more “adopted” grandkids filled his life with joy and purpose.
Fellowshipping came second nature to him and he had a gift of making friends with people from all walks of life and all ages. He continued his career in Logistics at Hill Field Air Force Base and Defense Department Operations where worked there for 20 years until he retired in 2002. Not being able to sit still for long he found his favorite job and the one he was most proud of at a company called Salt Lake Express. On call at all hours and doing everything from driving tours to fixing buses alongside the freeway. He enjoyed what he did and who he worked. We often heard him commenting about how happy we was there. He finally retired for good in 2016 at the age of 65.
Some of his fondest memories came from his service in the communities in which he lived. His favorites included the neighborhood Christmas parties, veterans community projects, and the 3rd of July BBQ’s in Plain City. Other adventures included a Christmas tree lot, booths at county fairs, many road trips, a cabin share in Island Park, hunting, and rebuilding old cars. We have seen many tender mercies over the last couple weeks and wish to thank all those who selflessly gave of their time to show up for this giant hearted man who gave so much, so often. He and our family have been greatly blessed by your kindness and we are forever grateful.
