Becky Jo McKenzie After a valiant struggle against cancer, Beck Jo McKenzie, 44, bid farewell to her earthly family and friends on Saturday, February 2, 2008. She was born June 20, 1963 in Ogden, Utah, to Robert Keith McKenzie and Dianne Hadley. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her beloved cat, Oscar. “Ms McKenzie” warmed the hearts and minds of many children and adults alike in over 20 years of dedication to teaching kindergarten students at West Valley and Fox Hills Elementary Schools in the Granite School District. She was a member of the Holladay Baptist Church in Salt Lake City. Her love of music prompted her to play her flute during church services and participate in the bell choir. She cherished the companionship of her pets and offered special care to each one. Her cat, Oreo, kept a patient vigil at her bedside until the last moments. Becky enjoyed the outdoors. She was a member of the Bountiful Mazda Biking Club. The thrill of the wind rushing by as she trekked along on 100 mile bike rides and the camaraderie of her fellow bikers enriched her life. Becky had a wealth of friends. She never tired of talking about the people who were so special in her life. She truly treasured the time spent with them. The family wishes to thank all of these dear friends who helped make her life happy and stood by her side to the very last moments. For each of us who remain – mom, dad, and three sisters; Pam (Ab) Fahim, Linda (Frank) Kelly, Nicole (Brody) Miller; two nieces, Pari and McKenzie; three nephews, Chris, Kyle, and Brennan, countless friends, and Oreo - WE LOVE YOU BECKY! To pay tribute to her life, a memorial service will be held Friday, February 8, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Bountiful Community Church, 150 N. 400 E. Friends may call Thursday, February 7th from 6-8 PM at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Friday, at the church one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Becky’s memory to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
