Belva Nance

April 29, 1931 — June 3, 2019

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Belva Criddle Nance, 88, passed away peacefully June 3, 2019 at her home in Syracuse, Utah.  She was born April 29, 1931, in Syracuse, Utah to Carl and Lyra Fowers Criddle.  She was the first of five children.  Belva graduated from Davis High School in 1949 and attended a business college in Ogden.  On April 2, 1953 she married Irel C. Nance in the Logan Temple.

Belva worked in the church cannery in the summers through high school.  She also worked at McKesson & Robbins from 1949 until she was married.  She started working at Hill Air Force Base in accounting and finance and retired in 1993 as a production controller.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in multiple church callings which included being a primary worker, transcribing for Patriarch Lawrence Criddle, dictating and typing for a Stake Presidency, and extracting names for genealogy.  She also was awarded recognition for her service as a Humanitarian Service Center worker.

Belva loved flowers, gardening, watching hummingbirds, canning fruits and vegetables, reading, and embroidery.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved Sunday dinners together.

Belva is survived by her three children: Kevin (Janet Abrams) Nance, Jolene Nance, and Gordon (Suzanne Bauer) Nance; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and her brothers: Howard, Keith (Lewilla), and LaVerl (Kathy).  She was preceded in death by her husband Irel; her parents, Carl and Lyra; and her sister LaVerne.
