Benjamin Leslie Graham
Benjamin Leslie Graham Jr., 95, met his Blessed Savior on June 9, 2014.
He was born in Goldthwaite, TX on August 8, 1918. He is the son of Ben Leslie Graham and Eddie April Pass Graham.
He came to Utah for a short work opportunity and while working in the field, he spotted, pursued and fell in love with Fern Hamblin. They became each other’s “Sugar Babe” on October 18, 1939. They celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage before Fern passed, taking a piece of his heart with her.
He was proud to be a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army with the 767 th Tank Bn, 98 th Div, arriving in Japan with the US Occupational Forces in August 1945. After his service he worked at the Clearfield Naval Supply Depot, retired from Hill Air Force Base, and owned and operated Clearfield Nursery and Power Equipment for 52 years.
Ben and Fern were charter members of First Southern Baptist Church in Clearfield, with the first Sunday School Class being held in their home. The church is now Mountain View Baptist Church. Because of his service and sacrifices, many lives were touched and changed, most importantly the lives of his children. We, his children, are blessed beyond measure with the perfect example and precious memories of what a father should be. WE THANK YOU DAD! Because of his relationship with Jesus Christ, he was ready for his tired 95 year old body to rest and begin his eternal life with his Lord. He loved nothing more than his Lord and family and telling his stories. We were blessed to have him on this journey and grateful for the well deserved rest and peace he is now enjoying. We love you Dad and Granddaddy!
Ben is survived by four sons, Ben R. Graham, James Graham (Lyndia), Sidney Graham (Terry), Eddie Graham (Debbie), and one daughter, Becky Davis (Lennie). He has 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Thelma Moxley and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Fern Graham, his sister Katie Ruth Maddux, his parents, his daughter-in-law Jacqueline Graham, and one granddaughter, Jennifer Rebecca Ridderhoff.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church, 2585 E. 3000 N., Layton. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
