KAYSVILLE a€" After an extended illness with esophageal cancer, Benjamin E. Ventura passed away January 23, 2011.

He was born July 1, 1941 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Paul P. and Joan R. Ventura.

Benjamin graduated from North Andover High School in Massachusetts and received a Bachelor''s degree from Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts. He then went on to earn a Master''s Degree and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Ben traveled extensively throughout his career. His work took him to Italy where he resided and then to the Far East where he met his lovely wife, Kyung Sook. Ben was warmly welcomed by his extended Korean family.

Ben and Kyung Sook have lived in Hawaii for the past 25 years and they have enjoyed many sunsets from their home on Waikiki Beach. The sun has now set on his life here on earth.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Kyung Sook Ventura of Kaysville, Utah, his two children, Benjamin (wife, Maricela) Ventura of California and Johanna Ventura of Hawaii, and his five grandchildren, Tanya, Isaiah, Brendon, Jacob and Joshua. He is also survived by his mother, four siblings, his extended family in South Korea, and the dear friends he made over the years.

The family wishes to express much appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Huntsman Cancer Institute and also the health care professionals from Applegate Home Care and Hospice who cared for Ben in his home during the final stage of his illness.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Friday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. A memorial in honor of Ben Ventura will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii at a later date. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
