1926 a€" 2012

Kaysville - BenOrlo Harvey Brough, loving, husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 1, 2012.

He was born in Kaysville, Utah on November 12, 1926 to Benjamin Orlo and Doritt Harvey Brough.

He grew up in Kaysville where he worked alongside his parents and siblings on their large family farm and chicken feed and egg delivery business. High school was interrupted for his service in the US Army as World War II ended. He served with the US occupation forces in Germany, then returned home and graduated from Davis High School in 1947. He served a 2 A½ year LDS mission in Germany.

He married Lorraine Hess in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on August 5, 1954.

He owned and operated Ben Brough Appliance and toy store in Layton. His family sub-divided the farm and began Brough Home Builders, constructing many homes in Kaysville. Ben did contracting, supervising, construction, and excavation work for the business. He went to work at Hill Air Force Base in 1966 where he worked for 21 years, much of the time as an electronics mechanic. In addition, he continued doing backhoe work, farming, and construction. He and Lorraine became part owners of the Villa Capri Motel in Fruit Heights. They expanded the motel and eventually became sole owners. He was president of the Haight''s Creek Irrigation Company for several years.

Ben loved horses especially paints and appaloosas. He enjoyed wild horse chases in his youth as well as breeding and breaking horses throughout his life. He was great at fixing things and was always willing to help others, especially his children and family. He was very hard working and honest and taught those principles to his children.

After retirement he served two LDS missions with Lorraine to Vienna, Austria and Dusseldorf, Germany. They were temple workers at the Bountiful LDS Temple. He served faithfully in many callings and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel.

He is survived by his siblings; Rebecca (Hilton), James, Vilate (McDonald), Evelyn, and four children; Gary (Marie) Brough, Joan Heusser, Lori (Sid) Williams, Christine (William) Woodland, 22 grandchildren, and eight great-grand children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Lorraine, daughter, Karilene, granddaughter, Kristen Williams, his brother, Harvey Brough and sisters, Pearl (Goodson), Eleanor (Huff), and Mary Brough.
