Bernaditte Munez McNichol, 65, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully at home under the love and care of her family on Palm Sunday April 13, 2025. She was born on September 20, 1959 in General Santos City, Mindanao, Philippines the daughter of Faustino Montezo and Victoria Munez.
Bernaditte had lived in the United States since her early 20s and became a U.S. Citizen. She raised her family in Pennsylvania, California, and finally Layton, Utah where she lived with her husband of 30 years John. Over the years Bernaditte has worked in the shipping, health care, and food service industries. For the last 15 years she was proud to cook and serve food to service members at Hill Air Force Base. She would invite servicemembers to the house frequently for holiday meals.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, road trips to Wendover, camping, and going back to see family and friends in the Philippines. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her puppy Pablo. Bernaditte always had energy weather at work or leisure and always looked out for family and friends opening her home to everyone. She loved going to mass at Saint Rose of Lima and enjoying Sunday breakfast with friends afterward.
Bernaditte is survived by her husband John; children, Michelle, Mary, and John; Grandchildren, Jordan, Everly, Eleanor, Samuel, and Leo; along with her many family members in the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her parents Faustino and Victoria and will be interred with them in Ormoc City, Leyte, Philippines.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday April 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 Chapel St., Layton, Utah. Friends may visit family April 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield rd., Layton, Utah. A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.
