Bernice M. Kessel
Bernice M. Kessel was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 28, 2008.
Bernice was born on a farm in Jackson County, Illinois on September 7, 1910.
She was called “Maudy” by her father and this became her nickname for life. Bernice was the beloved wife of Dr. Theordore A. Kellel, who preceded her in death in 1965.
Bernice is survived by a younger sister, Zumma, a younger brother, Roy, and by her children, James Kessel and his wife Donna, Robert Kessel and his wife LaDona, Naomi McKean and her husband Gary, and Sharon Kessel. She was blessed with five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she enjoyed greatly.
She was closely associated with her husband’s ministry and teaching in the Assembly of God Church and after his death she had many interests such as doll making, sewing, and painting. She enjoyed sharing her skills and excitement with her neighbors and friends and became well known as a student and teacher of doll making and quilting.
