Bernice F. Olsen
WEST JORDAN - Bernice Fuit Olsen passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2010 after a sudden illness.
She was born October 23, 1929, the sixth of seven children born to John and Priscilla King Fuit in Hooper, Utah.
Bernice married LaVar J. Olsen on June 18, 1948 and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in March 1962. They had two children, Carol Olsen (David) Eccles, currently residing in Northern California, and Scott L. (Denise) Olsen, Sandy, UT. She was blessed with nine beautiful grandchildren and 20 special great-grandchildren.
Bernice was employed as a secretary at Hill Air Force Base until she accompanied her husband on two overseas assignments a" one to Laon, France in 1962, and another to Ramstein, Germany in 1966. She and her family were fortunate to be able to experience extensive traveling in Europe during this time, providing them with choice memories.
Bernice was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings in the church, including serving in the Young Women''s program and the Relief Society. She and her husband served a mission in Auckland, New Zealand where they learned to love the Maori people and to serve them diligently. They were also called to serve in the Brisbane, Australia Mission, but were required to return home early due to an illness in the family. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, her two children, nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Bernice is also survived by a sister, Donna Gordon, a half brother, John K. Fuit, a stepbrother, Aaron Hatch and a stepsister, Carolyn Rawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will greet friends at the mortuary on Thursday, July 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Intermountain Medical Center and CareSource Hospice for the gentle, loving care extended to our wife and mother during this difficult illness.
