Grace Bernice Cunnington Strebel

July 2, 1925 ~ August 16, 2018

I, Grace Bernice was the first born of Rue Cunnington and Della Grace Craythorn Beasley. I attended Hooper, Weber County School through the 10th grade and graduated from Weber High School.

I met Carl Strebel at the Dance Hall in Hooper. We were married January 25, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple.

I was employed at Ogden Arsenal, The American Red Cross, Bonneville Chapter and Bennett’s Paint and Glass as an administrative assistant at each job.

With my husband, Carl, I was part owner in our family business, Strebel and Sons Western Wear, Taxidermy. We both loved dancing. We square danced with the Quarter Promenaders and we loved to Jitter Bug.

I was proud to be a member of the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers and was 2nd attendant royalty for Ogden Pioneer Days, July 16 to July 24, 2006. I was able to be in the Roy Days Parade and the Ogden Pioneer Days Parade. I was a member of the 49ers Camp South Ogden and the Sandridge Camp Roy.

I was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings. I loved being the chorister in Relief Society.

I loved to play games with the family and each month I played Bunco with my Bunco group. I was a Mt. Ogden Archer receiving many awards for excellent shooting. I love to sing and sung many times at school dances. I sang “The Star Spangled Banner” at the Bull Wars Rodeos. I loved the rodeos and will cheer for the bull as well as the cowboy.

I am survived by three daughters, Kathleen Strebel, Lark (Brent) Thompson, Melanie (Bill) Robins, grandchildren, Ben German , Kimberly Williams, Kassie Mitchell, Casi Parker, Ashley Johnson, Britanee Garner, Desi Waters, Travis Thompson, Trent Thompson, Trisha Spaeth, Curt Robins and Melissa Laughlin. I have 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Ruth Bennett, Lavona Cunnington and Noretta Huddleston. I was preceded in death by my husband, Carl W. Strebel, my only son, Stanley W. Strebel, my parents, Rue and Della and my brother, Blaine Cunnington.

In 2014, I moved to Country Pines Assisted Living Center where I made many wonderful friends. Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary. “Love to all. Until we meet again.” The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice workers, Tiersa and Amber. Also, a special thank you for all of the four angels that took excellent care of our mother the night she passed and returned to her Heavenly Home., Breanna, Jessica, McKayla, and Shyann.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
